Imperial College London
How we increased engagement and brand awareness through an 8-year partnership with a world-class research university by building 3 remarkable digital experiences
The background
Imperial College London is home to the greatest concentration of high-impact groundbreaking research of any major UK university.
Their Enterprise Division’s mission is to connect university research with industries and businesses right across the UK and Europe.
In 2014, this prestigious organisation approached us with a variety of projects, including building a number of websites, raising awareness, increasing engagement and successfully helping drive their vision forwards. We’ve been proud digital partners ever since.
Since then, we’ve worked on a whole variety of projects, building a number of websites to raise awareness, increase engagement and successfully help drive their vision forwards.
Since then, we’ve led a variety of successful projects including, building a number of websites whilst increasing engagement and bringing together Imperial’s vision to life digitally.
Fast forward to 2018, and Imperial College London once again had a new mission for us – to increase the number of site visitors they received on their medical platforms.
What we did
Here’s our favourite highlights of the impressive (if we do say so ourselves) projects with worked on with ICL.
Perform 2020
Managing patients with fever is one of the most common problems facing the healthcare industry worldwide. The act of distinguishing between trivial, self-resolving infections and those that are more serious is clinically very difficult.
Perform 2020 is an Imperial College EU funded campaign which aims to help improve the diagnosis of fever through new clinical markers – reducing misdiagnosis, wasted resources and unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions.
So how did we help?
Well, in order to provide project partners with all the necessary resources, all at one click of a button, we used Drupal. This sophisticated content management system (CMS) was used to develop a fully responsive website that would further aid in promoting the project and successfully drive campaign awareness right across Europe.
3D Tune-In
There are currently over 90 million people in Europe suffering from some form of hearing loss. Those living with hearing loss can often feel isolated, excluding them from social environments, which can lead to a doubled risk of depression as they grow older.
This is why 3D Tune-in was such a pivotal project for Imperial College EU. The project aimed to improve understanding and awareness of hearing aid technologies and their capabilities, alongside the issues faced by those with mild hearing problems.
How exactly? By linking the hearing device market with the thriving game-based learning market.
We were asked to develop a responsive website on a Drupal content management system to act as a repository, help promote the project and provide information on both a toolkit and a variety of gaming applications. So that’s exactly what we did! We created both a central and restricted access repository that brought in a staggering total of 12 thousand + users to the site.
EUCLIDS
A major worldwide issue, bacterial infection is one of the leading causes of disability and death in children worldwide – accounting for over 255 child deaths a year.
EUCLIDS is a 5-year project, funded by the EU, established to seek solutions to the more severe of these childhood bacterial infections. Connecting 200 top investigators, EUCLIDS aims to conduct a large-scale study into understanding the genetic basis for susceptibility to these major childhood infections.

By supporting this mission, we developed a responsive website built on Drupal to generate recognition of the project and act as a centralised resource for educational material and further project resources successfully raising project awareness right across Europe.

The results
- 12,000+ users to the site
- Raised brand awareness across Europe
Thanks to our work across multiple projects and websites, we have successfully helped Imperial College London raise awareness on highly important medical issues, increased engagement on their digital platforms and successfully helped drive their vision forward.
