Why should you bother with a Discovery Phase?

You know you’re not getting as many conversions as you could. You think you have an idea of why. Time to act?

Not yet.

Skipping the discovery phase of a project today means you’ll waste time and spend more money later. You need to look at the problem from every angle in order to make your next steps count.

Whether you’re planning a site rebuild, an SEO blog or a big new paid ads campaign, it’s crucial to first analyse the project in terms of:

  • Your specific goals
  • Anything that could be affected negatively
  • Alignment with your value proposition
  • Your user persona’s opinion
  • What your competitors are doing
  • What’s worked and not worked for you in the past

    Discovery Projects FAQs

    What is a Discovery Project?

A Discovery Project is a key part of the strategy development process. Through workshops and research, your team considers the business’ goals and problems from every angle so you can make informed choices going forward. It’s an essential stage of any digital marketing project and guarantees you’ll save time and money later.

Are Discovery Projects just for your new clients?

We like to do a discovery with every new client. We also often run a specialised mini-discovery session before a new project with an established client. If you’re interested in doing a Discovery Project with us and taking the findings away, we can have a chat about that, but we think you’ll want some help implementing the strategy!

Can my company run its own Discovery Project?

Many companies manage their own discovery phase before launching a product or beginning a project. When it comes to digital marketing and your online presence, though, it’s important that discovery is run by people with specialist knowledge in digital strategy, user experience, and data analysis. We think our team is uniquely positioned to provide the all-encompassing project discovery phase your organisation deserves.

How long does the discovery phase of a project last?

It varies from client to client, but we usually spend 1-3 months getting to know your company and forming the perfect plan of action. This includes the discovery sessions, research period, experimentation and strategy-building.

What’s the difference between a discovery session and a UX workshop?

A UX (User Experience) workshop is a type of Discovery Session that focuses on how your customers use and navigate your site – and how we can improve this! If you’re thinking about a website or app redesign, we’d love to host a UX Discovery Workshop for your team.
